Habitat 500

Habitat 500 Bike Ride

History

Now retired, the Habitat 500 was a bicycle ride fundraiser that toured around the Midwest, mostly in Minnesota, visiting Habitat affiliates, Habitat worksites, and Habitat homeowners along the way.

In 1993, the first Habitat 500 was coordinated by Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and traveled to Winnipeg for the Jimmy Carter Work Project. In 2000, Habitat Minnesota took over the coordination of the ride to promote fundraising for all of Minnesota Habitat for Humanity. The ride went through many iterations including virtual and hybrid versions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over its 30 years, the event went on to raise over $7 million and connected hundreds of Habitat fans and cyclists each summer.
